The Village Cohousing Community (VCC) is Madison's first complete cohousing project. You can find us on Mound Street, South Mills Street, and St. James Court in the Greenbush neighborhood. The award winning Design Coalition of Madison designed the community, and construction was completed in 1999. There are 18 units in all, 15 in three newly constructed buildings and three in two existing houses on half of a city block.

Cohousing combines personal privacy and community living. Private, owner-occupied living units are combined with extensive shared common facilities, such as a kitchen and dining area for community meals, a playroom, laundry facilities, guest rooms, and garden space. All units have their own kitchens. Residents manage cohousing projects, the grounds, and facilities.

Village Cohousing Community is close to the University of Wisconsin, Edgewood College, parks and schools.
